De iritide, (Leipzig, 1838)
Author: AMMON, Friedrich August von (1799–1861) Artist: N/A

A significant work by the celebrated ophthalmologist on the subject of iritis, which refers to the inflammation of the iris in the eye. Ammon was awarded a medal for this work, which was so thoroughly and carefully founded on pathological and anatomical observations that it made other works on the subject elementary. The extremely fine hand-coloured plates, engraved by Schwerdgeburth after Kranz, are superb.
